Becoming a Volunteer
ASD is always looking for volunteers. We need people, big and small, old and young, silly and serious, to hide for a search dog. A very important aspect to training a search dogs is the positive reward at the end, finding a person and playing with that person is a key motivation. It is a tremendous amount of fun for you, and you get first hand experience with the training of SAR dogs.
Not only can you help by hiding for a search dog, you can help by providing a facility or piece of land to train on. We train almost anywhere in Montana. We travel many miles a year in search of good training areas and facilities, because we welcome the opportunity and value the diversity. If you have land or a building you would lend us for a short period of time, we could conduct training there. For example: private land, ponds & lakes, river front property, lumber yards, industrial parks, manufacturing buildings & plants, college campus, etc. etc.
If you have a SAR group, special task force group or other emergency service organization we would welcome the opportunity to train with you.
If you have a special skill you can offer we would greatly appreciate your help and would welcome you as a sustaining member. For example: editor, fundraising coordinator, public relations specialist, non-dog related search support, two way radio & communications, videographer, photographer, presentation designer, educator for outdoor programs, and the list goes on.....
